The David Hayes-trained Gregers confirmed her status as a leading Thousand Guineas contender with an easy win in the Mitchelton Wines Plate at Moonee Valley on Saturday.
The three-year-old filly, who will next run in the Danehill Stakes at Flemington before the Thousand Guineas Prelude is the $5 favourite for the $500,000 Thousand Guineas at Caulfield on October 16.
Gregers, who was sent out favourite at $1.35, defeated The Huntress ($6.50) by 1-3/4 lengths with Pindan Pearl ($9) third two lengths away.
Hayes said Gregers appeared to wander around in the straight, just as she did at the same track three weeks ago, but there weren't many doubts for the punters who took the short odds.
"She's had two lovely introductions to racing this season and hopefully she will get better as the campaign goes on," Hayes said.
Winning jockey Chad Schofield said Gregers went to the front early and proved too good for the rest of the field.
"She gave me a great feel and I thought she did it very easily from early on," Schofield said.
Craig Williams was pleased with The Huntress' performance.
"There's a lot of improvement there," he said.
"I'm happy with the way she has started off with her preparation."
