Trainer Ciaron Maher will discuss international options with the owners of Bashboy after the outstanding jumper rounded out his season with a first steeplechase defeat under a big weight on Wednesday.
Maher said races in Japan or Europe were options for Bashboy, or he could stay home for a shot at the set weights features in Victoria next season.
Bashboy, winner of his previous seven starts over the fences in the past two seasons including two Grand Nationals, finished third in Wednesday's Australian Steeplechase.
The 10-year-old had to carry 74.5kg in the 3900m event, 10kg more than his nearest rival and 10.5kg more than the winner Maythehorsebemagic.
"There's a few different options for him," Maher said after Wednesday's race.
"There's a race in Japan - a couple of races in Japan - or there's Europe.
"There's also here next year in set weights races.
"We'll just sit down with the owners in the next week or so."
One of the options in Japan is the Nakayama Daishogai in December.
