Qld trainer fined after positive swab

Wednesday 11 September 2013, 1:38pm

Trainer David Kelly has been fined $8000 following an inquiry into a positive swab returned by one of his horses.

A swab taken from Lucky Hussler after he ran second in the Sunshine Coast Guineas in June was found to contain testosterone levels above the permitted threshold.

The gelding was disqualified with the Less Ross-trained Casino Card promoted to second behind Eximius.

Lucky Hussler was a consistent performer for Kelly during the winter carnival.

His efforts included a third to Sizzling in the Group Two Queensland Guineas (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 1 and a third to the Peter Snowden-trained Academus in the Listed Daybreak Lover (1600m) a week later.
