Hurdler Gotta Take Care again showed his adaptability with a well-crafted win at Moonee Valley on Saturday.
The nine-year-old gelding belied age to show his win over the same 2500m course last month was no fluke.
Gotta Take Care ($6.50) sat midfield for most of the 1print.com.au Handicap before making his move coming into the straight to hold out Crafty Cruiser ($9) by three quarters of a length.
Picture Editor, the $4.20 favourite, finished another half-head away third.
Trainer Darren Weir was shaking his head at Gotta Take Care's performance, saying the horse has a big heart and just enjoys running.
"We came here confident he would run well but to think he would win ... I thought he would be an each-way chance," Weir said.
He said the gelding had endured feet trouble for much of his career but a new farrier seems to have that problem under control.
"He's very sound now and he's just hit a purple patch."
It was soreness in one foot that stopped Weir from running the veteran in the Australian Hurdle last month won by Westsouthwest.
