Hussonet, Never Been Better

Friday 20 September 2013, 10:14am

Cornerstone Stud has announced that as of today they are reducing the fee of champion sire Hussonet. The current leading active sire of Group One winners in Australia will now stand this current season at an advertised fee of $16,500 inc. GST.

With an outstanding book of mares for Dalakhani, the team at Cornerstone Stud are keen to ensure that breeders, many of whom would have liked to have bred to Hussonet in the past, are aware that he is now at such an approachable fee.

According to Cornerstone Stud’s Sam Hayes the recent success of Hussonet progeny in Singapore and Hong Kong has added further commercial upside to the already proven G1 producing sire.

“He is in fantastic shape and we really wanted to make him accessible to breeders who appreciate him for the Champion Sire that he is,” Sam Hayes explained.

“There is demand for his colts internationally and he has now notched up seven Group One winners as a broodmare sire. At a fee of $15,000 there is a generous amount of upside for breeders and traders,” Hayes said.

Hussonet is also forging a reputation as a sire of sires. His sons have made flying starts to their careers; Husson (a champion first season sire in 2012), Host (a leading second season sire in 2013) and now Reaan, who this week recorded his fourth winner from eight runners as a second season sire.
