Singapore's champion jockey Joao Moreira has been licensed to ride in Hong Kong and will take up the contract next month.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club has confirmed Moreira's appointment as a club jockey from October 17 until the end of the season.
A multiple champion rider in his native Brazil, Moreira rose to international prominence when he moved to Singapore in 2009 where he has won the past three jockey titles and is a runaway leader this year.
Moreira is well known in Australia having ridden Group winners for Patinack Farm and he also rode a winner for local trainer Kris Lees at last week's Newcastle Cup carnival.
He made himself known in Hong Kong last December when he won the international jockeys challenge.
Moreira said he was grateful for the opportunities in Singapore but believed the time was right to make another move.
"It was one of the most difficult decisions I have ever made as a jockey," Moreira told the Singapore Turf Club.
"No other place in the world could have been better than Singapore for my career to take off the way it has, and I'm very thankful to the Singapore Turf Club and to my fans for their support all these years.
"It was the right place to come over and things have gone super from Day 1.
"But I've recently realised my success here has come to a point where I can't see myself improving any more. I just didn't want to get that feeling and thought it would be better if I leave on a high note.
"The Hong Kong Jockey Club has approached me a few times before, but the time wasn't right. This time, after I was asked to become the jockey for Ambitious Dragon, I thought such a chance does not come by every day."
Ambitious Dragon, a dual Hong Kong champion trained by Tony Millard, has been ridden in the past by Zac Purton who has opted to partner Military Attack.
Purton rode the John Moore-trained Military Attack to win the Singapore Airlines International cup earlier this year.
