Trainer Chris Waller will not rush a decision on a Turnbull Stakes jockey for Royal Descent and is prepared to look overseas to make sure she has the best.

The second favourite for the Caulfield Cup has found herself without a rider for her lead-up in Saturday's Group One Turnbull (2000m) at Flemington following Damien Oliver's failure to get a careless riding suspension reduced.

Waller said he would finalise plans after the mare worked at Rosehill on Tuesday morning.

"We're not panicking," Waller said.

"I'll see how she works tomorrow before anything else.

"Who knows? We may look overseas and approach someone like Corey Brown or Zac Purton.

"Whoever it is, she will have a good jockey come Saturday."

Brown rode Royal Descent to her debut win in December last year and was a regular jockey for Waller before he took up a contract in Singapore earlier this year while Purton has established himself as the No.2 rider in Hong Kong to Douglas Whyte.

A 10-length winner of the Australian Oaks in April, Royal Descent has warmed up to her Caulfield Cup mission with placings in her first three starts this season over distances shorter than her best, the latest a half neck second to Streama in the Group One George Main Stakes (1600m).

She is the TAB's $7 second elect for the Caulfield Cup (2400m) on October 19 with her stablemate Hawkspur heading the market at $6.

Hawkspur will be among her opponents in the Turnbull with Michael Walker to substitute for Jim Cassidy who will be riding in Sydney.

Craig Newitt will be reunited with Waller's third runner, Foreteller, who downed Puissance De Lune in an upset result to the Group One Makybe Diva Stakes two starts ago.
