Maybe Discreet's trainer Phillip Stokes is treating Saturday's Group Two Blazer Stakes as a guide for her ultimate spring goal, the Group One Myer Classic.
Impressed with her return to the racetrack, Stokes says the Group One Schweppes Oaks winner will be improved for a recent Adelaide run when she lines up at Flemington.
He said her minor placing at her most recent outing at Morphettville was run over "an unsuitable distance".
"She has come back well from her spell and will take further improvement from this race on Saturday," Stokes said.
"The distance suits, she's a big mare, so the top weight poses no problems for her.
"She's a top-three chance".
After her placing in the Sheraco Stakes at Rosehill, Peron ($3.70) is favourite to win the Blazer, with the in-form Chris Waller-trained mare Catkins on the second line of betting at $5.
Maybe Discreet is rated an $18 chance.
Stokes has two mares running in the Headquarters Tavern Stakes (1410m) - Just Discreet and Molto Bene - and says he can't split them.
"Just Discreet has got a lot of talent but can be slow from the gates and does seem to find trouble in running," Stokes said.
"If she does everything right then she's a very good chance."
He said Molto Bene, a last-start winner at Morphettville, has come back well from her spell.
"She's had a lot of issues throughout her campaign but has trained on nicely," he said.
"She will be strong late and I wouldn't like to split them."
