In-form mare Pickabee will chase black-type success in Melbourne after extending her winning sequence at Doomben on Saturday.
Ridden by Ryan Wiggins, Pickabee won the Mount Franklin Sparkling Handicap (1350m) by 1-1/4 lengths from Leviosa ($9) with Lady Colours ($21) a long neck away third.
Trainer Caitlin Lavin is eyeing the Group Two Tristarc Stakes (1400m) on Caulfield Cup day, October 19, as the next target for Pickabee who won her fourth race from six starts this campaign.
"She had to win today to make it definite that I'd look at Melbourne but I can't fault the way she's racing," Lavin said.
"We kept her nice and fresh since her last win at Eagle Farm and when she's happy, I'm happy."
Wiggins is keen to retain the ride on Pickabee in Melbourne and believes the mare can measure up in stakes company.
"You can make a case she should nearly be unbeaten this prep and she deserves the chance to win a better race," he said.
"Mares in form are always hard to beat and she's going from strength to strength."
Wiggins ensured Pickabee had a trouble-free run and was perfectly positioned on the home turn.
The mare ran her final 600m in 33.14 seconds and 200m in 11.09 seconds, making it impossible for her rivals to overhaul her.
"When I straightened up I had a lap full of horse underneath me so I thought I'd get on my bike and let them chase me," he said.
"It felt like was I was flying down the straight."
