A half-sister to three-time Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva has broken maiden ranks with a comprehensive win at Ballarat on Thursday.
The breakthrough victory for La Amistad came at the four-year-old mare's fourth start.
By leading sire Redoute's Choice, La Amistad is part owned by Makybe Diva's owner Tony Santic.
Co-trainer Wayne Hawkes said La Amistad was "just a baby who is going somewhere".
"That's why we are happy to be here today in weak opposition - we were just trying to get a score on the board," he told TVN after the 2200-metre race.
He said La Amistad was still 12 months away from being at her best.
