A Cox Plate start has been ruled out for star filly Guelph following confirmation the four-time Group One winner will head for a spell.
Guelph capped her spring campaign with victory in Wednesday's Group One Thousand Guineas at Caulfield after taking out the Flight Stakes in Sydney at her previous start.
Trainer Peter Snowden and the Darley team met on Thursday when it was decided the filly had done her job for the spring.
"We sat down, just laid the cards on the table. There's no dramas with her but everyone just felt she has done the job this time through and there's nothing else to prove," Darley's Melbourne stable foreman Paul Snowden said.
"So we look forward to next preparation."
Snowden said owner Sheikh Mohammed would determine whether Guelph continued her career in Australia but he hoped she would be competing in Sydney in the autumn.
The Group One Coolmore Classic has been earmarked as one of the targets for Guelph next campaign.
Snowden said the filly had pulled up well from Wednesday's victory and was adamant the best lay ahead of her.
"I really think the sky is the limit with her. Next time through we're probably going to see something a bit special," he said.
Guelph's stablemate Long John, who won last Saturday's Caulfield Guineas, will represent the stable in the Cox Plate on Saturday week.
