Premier trainer Rob Heathcote is confused by his stable's average run of form in Brisbane but he is confident he can turn the corner with top mare Fillydelphia at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Heathcote is second on the Brisbane trainers' premiership behind Matt Dunn and he is having a wonderful spring in Melbourne.
However, even the Group One win with Solzhenitsyn in the Toorak Handicap at Caulfield has not eased his concerns over some recent Brisbane results.
"I don't think you need me to tell you my stable has been having a fairly ordinary run for us in Brisbane. In fact it has me a bit perplexed," Heathcote said.
"A couple of my better horses just haven't raced as expected and we have sent them back to the paddock.
"But I had 10 trial at Doomben this week and eight of them went super. So I'm not throwing my toys out of the cot just yet."
Heathcote is confident star mare Fillydelphia can put aside a poor run in Sydney and win the Kartaway Miniskips Open Handicap (1200m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Fillydelphia has not raced since finishing 11th in the Group Three Sheraco Stakes at Rosehill on September 14.
Heathcote aborted the rest of her southern campaign which was to include a Melbourne trip.
"Fillydelphia just doesn't travel well. Some horse are sooks away from home and she is one of them," Heathcote said.
"We brought her home and sent her to Washpool Lodge (a spelling venue near Brisbane) where she has done well," he said.
In-form apprentice Aiden Holt has been booked for Fillydelphia and with his 3kg claim she will carry a luxury 55.5kg.
Fillydelphia will now be set for the Bernborough Handicap (1600m) on the re-opening night of the Toowoomba grass track on New Year's Eve.
"She has run second in the past two Bernboroughs and deserves to win one," Heathcote said.
