Full field for Group One Victoria Derby

Wednesday 30 October 2013, 11:46am

Group One winner Complacent headlines a full field of 16 plus two emergencies for Saturday's $1.5 million Victoria Derby at Flemington.

The Spring Champion Stakes winner is one of three runners for trainer Peter Snowden along with Norman Robinson stakes runner-up San Diego and Geelong Classic runner-up Tupac Amaru.

Group Two Vase winner Savvy Nature will try to turn the tables on Complacent after placing behind that colt twice in Sydney, while the Robbie Laing-trained Polanski will be out to continue his winning momentum following victories at his past two starts including the Norman Robinson Stakes.

Spring Champion Stakes runner-up Criterion will carry the number one saddlecloth.

David Hayes has three runners in the field - Honey Steel's Gold, Tips And Beers and Surging Wave - and also second emergency Empire Rock.

The barrier draw for the Victoria Derby, the feature race on the first day of the Melbourne Cup carnival, will be conducted later on Wednesday.
