Questions:

What was the best horse you beat on the track?

I was fortunate enough to win the Group One double of the Golden Slipper & ATC Sires Produce Stakes and there is always tremendous quality in those particular races. I would have to say Samantha Miss was probably the most talented horse I was able to defeat when I won the Sires Produce Stakes a week after winning the Golden Slipper.

Which of your progeny are you most excited about?

What a first crop! Recent Group performers CRITERION & LE MANS are headed toward more Group success during the Flemington carnival. Group 2 winning 2yo Criterion flew home for 2nd in the Spring Champion Stakes at Group One level last start and will head to the Victoria Derby Gr1. KISS A ROSE is a beautiful filly that has been given a light spring after winning the Quezette Stakes Gr3 & 2nd in the Danehill Gr2.

Stakes winning 2yo DISSIDENT is Group One material from what he has shown us already. His runner up effort in the Golden Rose Gr1 was simply outstanding from such a wide run & expect he’ll be hard to beat in the Cadbury Guineas Gr1 next prep. Gai has the talented stakes performers PITCREW, SHE’S BELLA & FLYING SEBRING going well, Peter Moody’s classy colt STAMINA is being set for the Randwick Guineas & I’m especially excited about the well named filly SCRATCHY BOTTOM who was an eye-catching debut winner at Moonee Valley earlier this spring. They all look like they have inherited their father’s ability! Not only do they run at two they appear to be even better at three which is so exciting!

I’ve now had 27 first crop winners including 4 stakes winners, 11 stakes performers & had runners in the Blue Diamond, Golden Slipper, Sires Produce, Champagne Stakes, Caulfield Guineas, Spring Champion Stakes & three in the Golden Rose… I’m a very proud dad!

What maiden filly would you most like to cover this year?

I was honoured to be chosen as the first mate for Mr Takaoka’s Champion Singapore mare BETTER LIFE who bowed out an impressive winner this year in the prestigious Singapore Derby Gr1. Pleased to announce that she is in foal too!

Who is your all time pin up filly?

Had a huge amount of respect for my sparring partner Samantha Miss and enjoyed watching her dominate in the spring as a 3yo. Of late, it would have to be the mighty Black Caviar. She has done so much for racing in this country & really put an exclamation mark on why Australian breds are some of the best in the world. It’s also exciting to see Atlantic Jewel come back from injury and remind us of just how good she is.

I admit, I have a crush on all three & I’m happy to offer my services to any of them!

What is your favourite colour? Black, Grey, Brown, Bay or Chestnut

I love all the beautiful mares that come to visit me regardless of colour however I do have a soft spot for mares by Redoute’s Choice and KISS A ROSE is a nice example of why I think this cross will work very well over the next decade.

If you were a human what would your profession be?

With these good looks I’d be in Hollywood surely?

If that didn’t quite work out I’d be happy to settle for the quiet life and work out in the beautiful Widden Valley!
