The chance to ride one of Queensland's best horses has tempted boom apprentice Travis Wolfgram to head to Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Wolfgram has been booked to ride the Kelso Wood-trained Belltone in the Padua College Open Handicap (1300m).
His 3kg claim will mean Belltone carries 59kg.
Wolfgram, the son of former jockey Philip Wolfgram, has been in great form since he started riding 12 months ago and has an impressive 70 winners to his credit.
However, only three of those wins have been in Brisbane and they were at midweek meetings.
Wolfgram is leading both the apprentices' and senior jockeys' titles on the Gold Coast this season and had intended to ride there on Saturdays for at least the next six months.
His manager Melissa Shield explained Wolfgram wanted to outride at least his 2kg allowance at provincial meetings before venturing into the city.
"It is all about getting experience. Too many young riders rush into the metropolitan area and are swallowed up," she said.
"Travis wants to have plenty of rides under his belt before he takes on the senior jockeys in Brisbane."
However, Shield said the chance to ride Belltone was just too good to miss.
The winner of 10 races and $571,000 in prizemoney, Belltone returned to Brisbane from Sydney after finishing second to Boban in the Bill Ritchie Handicap and then being unplaced behind the same horse in the Epsom Handicap.
Belltone won his return run in Brisbane at Doomben two weeks ago when he carried 57.5kg for apprentice Aidan Holt who is suspended.
Wood said he had no choice but to use a 3kg claimer and he wasn't worried about Wolfgram's lack of city experience.
"The other kid (Holt) is not available and Travis rides well. He won't carry too much dead weight to make up the 59kg," Wood said.
"If he rides it well I will be giving him more rides."
