The Australian Turf Club will donate all sponsorship revenue from Saturday's Randwick races towards helping the victims of the recent NSW bushfires.
As part of a special fundraising day in partnership with the Salvation Army, collectors from the organisation's bushfire appeal will circulate the course with buckets to accept cash donations from racegoers.
ATC chief executive Darren Pearce said he hoped the day would raise up to $100,000, and vowed to kick-start the efforts by giving all sponsorship proceeds to the cause.
"Our hearts go out to all the residents and businesses who lost property those terrible few weeks ago and we want as many people to come to join in the effort," Mr Pearce said.
"We have had a successful spring carnival in Sydney with some great crowds so we are very happy to be able to help out where we can."
Mr Pearce thanked the sponsors who had purchased naming rights to the events, adding that another race day may be organised at Rosehill to say thank you to NSW firefighters and volunteers.
