Trainer Desleigh Forster has some unfinished business in Sydney with Poste Restante.
Last December, Forster took Poste Restante to Sydney for the Summer Cup but the trip ended in disappointment when the mare beat only one runner home.
The Group Three Summer Cup (2000m) at Randwick on Boxing Day is again on the agenda for Poste Restante after the mare's runaway four-length win in Saturday's Awesome Foursome Membership Handicap (2400m) at Eagle Farm.
"The way she won today you'd think the Summer Cup would be a lovely race for her," Forster said.
Poste Restante was a beaten favourite at her previous two starts but Forster was quick to defend her form.
"She's been a headache to punters but, by the same token, she's been unlucky a few times," she said.
"It's not as though she's been running out the back and doing nothing.
"Her runs have been super, really, and last start she was only beaten by a bob of the heads."
In an effort to coax Poste Restante back to winning form, Forster and Cahill decided on a change of tactics.
"We've been racking our brains for a few weeks now and we came up with a plan to go back, ride her cold, don't move until the 300 metres then let her get home over the top of them," Forster said.
"She wanted to race today and she put them to the sword."
Cahill said he noticed a change in Poste Restante's attitude on Saturday.
"In recent starts she's gone up to win but just hasn't gone on with the job but she was a different mare today," he said.
"When she won three in a row this time last year she only won by narrow margins but today was the first time she's actually gone on with it and put them away."
