Pint-sized mare White Sage has taken another step towards running with the big kids in the autumn when she continued her winning ways at Rosehill on Saturday.
The Reset mare was the shortest-priced favourite of the day at $1.20 and lived up to her perfect record, taking out the Cellarbrations Scone Handicap (1350m) to lift her unbeaten streak to four wins.
Stable apprentice Lester Grace steered the four-year-old out of the barriers first and kept her at the helm win to by 3-1/2 lengths from El Of A Time ($20).
Third-placed Coins ($13), ridden by Christian Reith, was a further length away.
Trainer John O'Shea said the convincing result was further evidence the mare was cut out for next March's Coolmore Classic.
But just how many runs she gets between now and then is yet to be determined.
"We'll see how she pulls up, she's still not fit yet, she probably has about five or six kilos to come off yet," O'Shea said.
"I wanted him (Grace) to give her a bit of a burnout today, because she was going to go 1500 metres next week."
Grace - who is in winning form on the back of a midweek victory on the O'Shea-trained Kencella - used his 3kg allowance to reduce White Sage's 59.5kg impost.
She was one of the smallest horses at the track on Saturday.
"She's 430kg," O'Shea said. "Yearlings weigh more than her."
White Sage has won by big margins before - she snatched her maiden at Kembla Grange in May by seven lengths before scoring an emphatic five-length win at Randwick in June.
