Jason Collett is confident a flying visit to Victoria will be worth it as he bids to make an impact in two states this weekend.
The talented Sydney-based hoop rides at Randwick's Kensington track meeting on Saturday where his leading chance appears to be two-year-old Occitan for Darley who has been well-supported to make a winning debut.
On Sunday Collett will be in Victoria to partner Sheer Style, the favourite for the $200,000 Magic Millions Clockwise Classic at Ballarat.
Collett has never ridden in a Victorian race but was keen to stick with the Garry Frazer-trained two-year-old.
Sheer Style takes race experience into Sunday's 1000m scamper having been runner-up in her only two Sydney starts.
She ran into the ultra-impressive Earthquake who beat her by more than two lengths last start at Randwick, but Sheer Style spaced the rest.
"There's a huge amount of positives going into it," Collett said.
"The race experience for a two-year-old, in my opinion, is a huge thing.
"If you take away the winner last start she would have won by five lengths. If the winner wasn't there they would be talking her up saying how good she is, but unfortunately there was one two lengths ahead of her."
Collett is confident Sheer Style has the gate speed and cruising speed needed to make her presence felt.
The race is run in the clockwise direction - opposite to usual in Victoria - as a lead-in to the Gold Coast's Magic Millions Classic in January.
Occitan, meanwhile, is one of two Peter Snowden-trained youngsters in the TAB Rewards Plate (1000m) out to make it three wins in as many weeks for the Darley operation in the Sydney two-year-old Saturday race on the back of recent victories to Earthquake and Memorial.
"She looks a nice ride," Collett said.
