Three-year-old By The Grace, impressive in his only two outings with a win and a second place, is being groomed for a stakes mission in Adelaide next year.
By The Grace will line up as the favourite in the CRV Hospital Helping Hand Plate at Caulfield on Saturday.
The God's Own gelding won first-up at Kyneton over 1200m early this month and filled second place behind Girl In Flight at Sale over 1400m on November 20.
Trainer Andrew Noblet picked up By The Grace for $45,000 at the Adelaide Magic Millions sale and if he can win on Saturday the prizemoney will more than cover for the investment.
"He's got a lot of furnishing out to do and he will be a nice horse in the autumn," said Noblet.
The son of the 2005 Caulfield Guineas winner is the second highest rated horse in the field with 64.
"The filly that beat him at Sale the other day was quite impressive and he was probably the only horse to make up significant ground during the whole day," said Noblet.
By The Grace will avoid the filly - the Robbie Griffiths-trained Girl In Flight - who is racing in the Leigh Thomas Gift (1700m) at Caulfield.
"He'll have a short break and and then we'll get him ready for the latter part of the autumn in Adelaide and aim for something like the Adelaide Guineas," Noblet said.
Michelle Payne, who has ridden By The Grace in both his trips, is on him again on Saturday.
"These small fields can be a bit tricky but hopefully there is a bit of tempo," said Noblet.
"We'll see how he measures up in this step up in grade."
"It also will be interesting to see how Girl In Flight measures up - there might be a bit of form come out of that Sale race."
