It only took a matter of seconds for punters to lose their money on Poste Restante at Doomben on Saturday.
The $2.50 favourite, Poste Restante knuckled over as the barriers opened, vaulting jockey Michael Cahill out of the saddle when her nose hit the ground.
Stewards delayed correct weight to study a replay of the jump before declaring Poste Restante had been afforded a fair start while Cahill escaped unharmed.
Trainer Desleigh Forster said Poste Restante will have a jump-out at Doomben on Tuesday before she heads to Sydney for the Christmas Cup (2400m) at Randwick on December 14.
The dramatic start to the South Bank Insurance Brokers Handicap overshadowed the win of Raeburn ($5) who held off Mukaddamah Son ($4.60) to win by a nose.
Raeburn disappointed trainer Brian Smith in two starts in Melbourne during the spring carnival.
"Nothing went right down there so we both came home, got stuck into it again and did our best," Smith said.
"He's a tough horse and he just loves the wet."
Meanwhile, Tim Bell is spoiled for a choice when it comes to his Magic Millions options.
Bargain-buy Celestial Dragon added to Bell's growing band of Millions candidates when he led throughout to win the Breakfast Creek Hotel Handicap (1110m).
"I've got about four horses that are heading towards the Millions and this bloke is right up there with them," Bell said.
"It's the first time I've ridden him but hopefully it's not the last."
Bell said Celestial Dragon wasn't comfortable on the heavy track.
"I travelled OK mid-race but when I clicked him up at the 600 metres to see what was under the tank his legs went everywhere," he said.
Celestial Dragon was bought for only $10,000 by trainer Stuart Kendrick at the Magic Millions QTIS sale in March.
