Apprentice Serge Lisnyy's tearaway tactics in a race at Randwick have cost him a month on the sidelines.
Racing NSW stewards hauled him over the coals after the race on November 23 when he made no effort to restrain the leader, Calming Influence, in a 1300m race in which the filly eventually finished third.
At the conclusion of the inquiry on Monday, Lisnyy was given a month for not taking all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best placing in the race.
Betting steward Terry Griffin presented sectional time summaries which showed Calming Influence travelled through the first 600 metres in 1.75 seconds (10 lengths) faster than the average for the 10 fastest times from the 1300 metre start to the 600 metres in the past 13 years on the Kensington track.
Assisted by his master David Payne, Lisnyy pleaded guilty to the charge which comes on top of a careless riding suspension incurred at Rosehill on Saturday.
Although stewards took into account he was still an apprentice, they also pointed out he was an experienced rider at 28 years of age with more than 1000 rides and 120 winners.
Lisnyy was also told to continue to take advice from Payne and guidance from the Racing NSW Riding Skills Panel.
He will serve his suspensions from December 8 and can return on January 15.
