Melbourne Cup hopeful Winchester will undergo a second veterinary examination on Friday after being found to be mildly lame.
On Thursday, Racing Victoria vets began looking at the 35 horses still in the mix for next week's Cup giving the green light to Glencadam Gold who has spent the week going to the beach rather than working on the track.
Favourite for the Caulfield Cup, Glencadam Gold weakened badly to finish among the tailenders but trainer Gai Waterhouse said he would press on to the Melbourne Cup.
He is not among the acceptors for Saturday's Lexus (2500m) but Winchester is scheduled to run if he is passed fit.
The 35 horses are being examined over two days to ensure they are fit at acceptance time on Saturday.
Hong Kong-based Australian Brett Prebble has been booked to ride Green Moon if owner Lloyd Williams decides he will run after his sub-standard Cox Plate performance.
Another Hong Kong based jockey, the flamboyant Olivier Doleuze has been confirmed as the rider of French horse Tac de Boistron replacing the suspended Christophe Soumillon.
