Emerging galloper Ihtsahymn continues to firm as a serious chance in the Kingston Town Classic following the barrier draw for the Group One race.
Faring best among the leading four betting picks with an inside alley, Ihtsahymn is a clear second favourite at $4.20 behind Railway Stakes winner Luckygray ($2.50).
Mr Moet ($6.50) and two-time Kingston Town winner Playing God ($9) are the only other runners under double figures for the final Australian Group One race of 2013 at Ascot on Saturday.
Ihtsahymn has been given his chance against Perth's leading weight-for-age horses after winning the W A Guineas at Ascot.
Trained by Fred Kersley, Ihtsahymn ran almost 1s slower than Luckygray did in winning the Railway over the same distance on the same day.
But as the youngest runner in Saturday's 11-horse field, he is well treated under the weight-for-age conditions, receiving 5kg from his nearest weighted rivals.
He also promises to have the run of the race from barrier two.
In a further boost to his chances, leading jockey Steven Parnham has picked Ihtsahymn as his ride over Playing God.
"It's the toughest decision of my racing career to get off Playing God," he said.
Parnham was in the saddle when Playing God won the 2010 and 2011 editions of the Kingston Town.
