Encostanati (Encosta De Lago x Cincinnati Gal g.) has stepped up into Saturday class racing where he will line up tomorrow in the 3YO BM 73 HQ of Insurance Handicap (1150m) at 2:37pm at Randwick, Kensington. He has drawn favourable in barrier 1 with Brenton Avdulla in the saddle.
Trainer, Bjorn Baker thinks it will be a good opportunity to run at Kensington and hopes that Encostanati “will be competitive on Saturday”.
The gelding has shown ability when he placed 3rd beaten by 2 lengths in his last start at Canterbury in the 3YO BM 70 Hcp (1100m). He was constantly checked mid-race which pushed him back but Encostanati showed a lot of ability to finish so strongly.
The son of Encosta De Lago has an abundance of strength, placing in all of his starts, despite the fact that the horse is still developing. Nathan Berry, one of Encostanati’s riders in the jumpout and in trackwork, believes that the gelding is “still learning and will develop into a nice horse”.
Encostanati has improved since his last start and should step up tomorrow. We are very excited to see his performance on his city start tomorrow and witness his progression over time. Good luck to all Encostanati owners!
