Fresh from beating an international field to take out the jockeys' challenge in Hong Kong, Kerrin McEvoy has kept the momentum going with four winners at Randwick.
All his winners on Saturday were for Sheikh Mohammed's Darley Australia and trainer Peter Snowden.
Although justifiably proud of the achievement, the one that got away kept things in perspective.
Occitan was the dominant favourite to keep Darley's winning streak going in Sydney two-year-old races but ran into traffic and was never a chance.
"Occitan had a dreadful run," McEvoy said.
"You have to be ready to adjust when things like that happen."
McEvoy said the only other time he could remember riding four winners in Australia was in September 2002 when Pernod won the Dubai Racing Club Cup.
"I won a trip to Dubai that day," he said.
That trip to Dubai was the beginning of a decade-long association with Sheikh Mohammed, firstly with Godolphin in Europe and recently with Darley Australia.
"I've also ridden four winners on a day in England but not at the same track," McEvoy said.
"It's very competitive in Sydney every day so it's not easy."
