Jamie Mott in hospital after race fall

Saturday 7 December 2013, 6:28pm

A conscious Jamie Mott has been taken to hospital for assessment after a race fall at Caulfield.

Mott came crashing to the turf around the home turn during the LUCRF Super Handicap (1440m) when his horse Zuma Roc appeared to clip heels.

The jockey was conscious but complained of a sore neck.

Stewards opened an inquiry into the fall and took evidence from Michael Rodd, Luke Nolen and Dwayne Dunn.

It was adjourned until Mott can give evidence.

Fellow jockey and good friend Michael Walker ran down the Caulfield straight after the race to where Mott was being treated by paramedics.

"He's sitting up and talking," Walker said.

"He may have a little bit of concussion, he's got a sore head."

The fall happened on the day of the National Jockey' Trust fund raising at Caulfield.
