New Zealand mare Abeautifulred will be carrying more than the hopes of her backers who have made her favourite to win at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.
The five-year-old is in foal to Exceed And Excel, the Darley stallion who also covered the champion racemare Black Caviar earlier in the Australian breeding season.
And by getting in foal, Abeautifulred has already fulfilled one purpose for her trip across the Tasman.
Now it is up to Randwick trainer John Sargent to make sure another one is achieved before her racing career has to draw to a close.
"She came over here to get in foal so the owners thought they would see if they could get some black type in Australia while she's here," Sargent said.
"She's going to have this run and another and then be aimed for the Belle of the Turf Stakes at Gosford."
Under Australian racing rules, mares can race in foal until the 120th day of their pregnancy.
Abeautifulred has been well backed in early betting on the Hyland Race Colours Handicap (1400m), firming from $4.60 to assume her place at the top of the market at $4.
The support backs up Sargent's appraisal of her first Sydney run and her subsequent progress.
Abeautifulred couldn't be properly tested racing between horses when sixth to Kristy Lee and she drops in class in an apprentices' only race on Wednesday.
"It was a nice run first-up and she's improved and although the best of her will be seen when she gets to a mile, I'm confident she should be going a big race tomorrow," Sargent said.
Sargent, who welcomed VRC Oaks winner Kirramosa back into his stable this week, has a second Warwick Farm runner in His Footprint.
His Footprint is a last-start provincial winner who has responded to a different routine between races.
"We did a bit of jumping with him yesterday and overall we've changed his training a bit the last few weeks and it seems to have worked," Sargent said.
