Star mare Streama is set to back up in next week's prestigious $1 million Emirates Stakes if Saturday's Group One Myer Classic (1600m) goes to plan.

Jockey Hugh Bowman describes Streama as his key ride for the Melbourne spring carnival and says she is in peak condition.

Bowman said it was expected Streama would take out the Myer Classic before stepping up to the Cup carnival's premier 1600-metre race.

"She's been set for this race and she's probably the main horse going into the carnival," Bowman said.

"If she runs as expected she'll probably back up next Saturday in the Emirates.

"She's ticking all the boxes and going really well."

Out to stop him will be Corey Brown who hopes to reverse the result of the last meeting between the pair, last month.

Brown rode Red Tracer into third as Streama collected the Group Two Tristarc Stakes(1400m) at Caulfield on October 20.

Brown joked that Bowman should have been penalised for his fine front-running ride but said Red Tracer was ready for the rematch.

"I did say the other day that Hughie should have been arrested on Streama because he went that steady up in front, he was given the race," Brown said.

"I couldn't get out or get up to him and attack him a bit earlier.

"I thought my horse's run was really good. She had the audacity with the big weight to come out from behind a slow speed and attack the line well.

"She definitely gets her chance tomorrow," he said.

Trainer Chris Waller has described Red Tracer as a genuine Group Two mare but her form this preparation prompted him to give her a chance at the Group One Myer against her own sex.

A superior wet tracker with a perfect record of five wins from five starts on slow or heavy tracks, Red Tracer claimed her sixth stakes race on a good track in last month's Group Two Premiere Stakes (1200m) in which Streama finished sixth.
