BRISBANE Dec 26 AAP - In a superb training performance, the Meagher Racing team has produced Devil Heart to win at her first start in two years at the Sunshine Coast on Thursday.
Devil Heart had not raced since her debut in December 2011 when she was sent out second favourite but finished last in a two-year-old handicap at Eagle Farm.
At the time she was trained by the Sunshine Coast's Troy Hall who had rated her a genuine Magic Millions Classic hope.
However, since then Devil Heart has been dogged by stifle problems and she was transferred to Meagher Racing - a training partnership of John Meagher and his sons Chris and Daniel.
Chris Meagher said Devil Heart had been at their Eagle Farm stable for about 10 months and had won a barrier trial in good style at Doomben on December 10.
Devil Heart is by Queensland sire Show A Heart out of the former smart Brisbane mare Devil Inside.
Starting the $1.60 favourite, Devil Heart won Thursday's Hahn Super Dry Maiden Plate (1000m) by 3-1/4 lengths from Kiss My Brass ($16) with 1-1/4 lengths to Astralin ($8) in the slick time of 57.66 seconds.
Earlier, promising four-year-old Iona Fast One ($1.60 fav) scored his second win in three starts this campaign in the XXXX Summer Bright Handicap (1000m).
Trainer Brad Herne is hopeful Iona Fast One, who was caught deep for the entire race, can step up to city class in the near future.
