Warwick Farm trainer David Pfieffer believes his Queensland satellite stable is still two months from being at its top despite winning its first feature race.
Pfieffer has a satellite training operation at Barham Stud, near Toowoomba, which has had a steady stream of winners, mainly on provincial and bush tracks, since starting in September.
His two-year-old filly Ramblin' Daisy ($11) led all the way to win the $75,000 Brisbane Bloodstock Hopeful Plate (1000m) at the reopening of the Toowoomba track on Tuesday night.
As a guide to the Magic Millions Classic it was a non-event as Ramblin' Daisy is not eligible for the big Gold Coast race while short-priced favourite Vienna Royale will be spelled and gelded after finishing fifth.
Pfieffer said Ramblin' Daisy would probably go for a spell and be brought back to race in the Queensland winter.
"She isn't eligible for the Millions and we are in no rush to get her up to 1200 metres," he said.
Pfieffer said his Queensland operation was still finding its feet as he had to sort out a paddock full of horses after taking over.
"We are still learning which ones can gallop and which ones are suited to which races," he said.
"I don't expect we will be at full bore for a month or two yet."
Pfieffer has already sent several of his horses north from Warwick Farm to Queensland including New Day Rising and Can She Move.
"One advantage of the Barham operation is we can train them in a more relaxed atmosphere which suits some horses," he said.
