Leading jockey Blake Shinn has until Friday to appeal a suspension that will keep him out of the rich Magic Millions meeting.
Shinn is tipped to fight the seven-meeting ban that stewards dished out during Wednesday's Randwick meeting.
Racing NSW stewards said a deadline for Shinn to lodge the paperwork for an appeal would be at the close of business on Friday.
As it stands, Shinn will miss the Magic Millions Classic ride on Cyclone.
Trainer Gai Waterhouse will wait on the result of any appeal outcome before finding a replacement rider for the colt.
Cyclone has figured in a change of plans since his luckless introduction to racing at Rosehill last month.
He was the victim of interference caused by stablemate Francesco and was elevated to second behind Kumaon after a protest from Shinn.
The son of Sebring was put back on a Magic Millions trail earlier this week and has firmed to $15 to win the $2 million race at the Gold Coast on Saturday week.
Shinn's suspension will keep him out of the saddle until January 23.
The Melbourne Cup-winning rider has been in dashing form during Sydney's summer of racing, claiming the Summer Cup and Tattersalls Club Cup double on the Chris Waller-trained pair I'm Imposing and Permit respectively.
In the absence of suspended riders Hugh Bowman and Nash Rawiller, Waller has again called on Shinn's services at Rosehill on Saturday, providing the jockey with four mounts.
