The Hawkes training partnership has one of the leading chances in Saturday's Magic Millions Classic at the Gold Coast but it is also poised to strike in the two-year-old race at Flemington.
Invisible is second favourite for the Classic while stablemate Bugatty is the $2.10 top pick for the Better Beyond Plate (1000m) in Melbourne.
The colt heads to Saturday's race on the back of a debut second to the Mark Kavanagh-trained Chivalry at Moonee Valley on December 28.
Bugatty is one of only two horses with race experience in the six-horse Flemington field, along with the David Hayes-trained Lotion who was third on debut in Adelaide.
Bugatty will be ridden by Glen Boss who gets the chance to chip away at Damien Oliver's five-win lead in the Melbourne jockeys' premiership with Oliver riding at the Gold Coast.
Smart Bomb is set to make his debut in the Better Beyond Plate and trainer Dean Binaisse confirmed the colt remained a chance to head to Sydney for the $250,000 Inglis Classic (1200m) on Saturday week.
Smart Bomb disappointed Binaisse in a barrier trial last month, denting preparations for the Inglis Classic.
"He trialled horrible at Pakenham on a wet track. He hated it," Binaisse said.
"He had another jumpout at Balnarring last week and came from back in the field and won nicely without being knocked about too much."
Binaisse said the colt, who is the outsider in betting, had improvement in him going into Saturday's race.
"But he would have to run pretty well to convince me to take him up there (for the Inglis Classic)," Binaisse said.
