BRISBANE Jan 18 AAP - Trainer Kelso Wood declared his new stable arrival Terms Of Trade could progress through to open class after he landed a sizeable betting plunge at Doomben on Saturday.

Given the run of the race by apprentice Kirk Matheson, Terms Of Trade ($4.80 fav) scored by a half length to Spontaneity ($9) with three-quarters of a length to Iona Fastone ($5) in third in the www.BRC.Com. Au Hcp (1010m).

Terms Of Trade's on course fluctuations were $4 to $4.80 but as much as $14 was bet with corporate bookmakers on Wednesday and Thursday.

The gelding was $10 into $4 on Friday night and opened favourite on course.

Wood has had great success with Terms Of Trade's owner Norm Fuller and they've had much success including Ipswich Cup winner Awesome Weather.

Fuller bought Terms Of Trade, who was previously trained in Victoria by David Racovolis, for an undisclosed amount in a private sale.

"I sometimes wonder why they sell these horses in Victoria. He is a nice strong horse, who can handle wet and dry and he had won five races down there," Wood said.

He added that although Saturday's race was a No Metropolitan Win class he thought Terms Of Trade could go all the way to winning in Open company.

Meanwhile, Priscilla Schmidt celebrated a 12 month extension to her apprenticeship with a win on Bang On in the Hidden Dragon Hcp (2100m).

Schmidt's 2kg claim meant Bang On ($26) carried only the limit of 54kgs and it told when she hung on to beat the favourite Secret Garden ($4.20) by a short neck.

The training combination of John Meagher and his sons Daniel and Chris continued their recent good run when Rojo Grande ($10) won the Mittys Three Year Old (1200m).

Rojo Grande, who is owned by a syndicate headed by Magic Millions boss Gerry Harvey, has taken time to hit his top form.

"He is like his sire Northern Meteor he needs a lot of hard work but he has always shown plenty of ability," John Meagher said.

The run of the race was fourth placed Secret Harmony who came from third last and 12 lengths off the lead at the 600m.
