A double at Flemington has consolidated Darren Weir's lead in the Melbourne premiership while two winners to Glen Boss has him closing in on Damien Oliver.
Visiting Irish apprentice Oisin Murphy also claimed a double for Danny O'Brien to cement his successful stay with the Flemington trainer.
Weir's wins with Flying Hostess and Corporate Takeover stretched his premiership lead to seven over Peter Moody who has taken the title for the past four years.
Wins on Blue Diamond contender Nostradamus and stayer Index Linked moved defending champion Boss to just one behind premiership leader Oliver.
Murphy is on a short term loan to O'Brien from English trainer Andrew Balding and with Saturday's double has now notched four metropolitan wins to go with several out of town.
He rode Eraset to victory in the Craftsman Handicap (1720m) and then led all the way on Decircles in the Leonard Handicap (1410m).
O'Brien said Decircles may back up next week at Caulfield in the Listed John Dillon Stakes over 1400m.
"He's won three of his last six and he's obviously raced in races a lot better than today," O'Brien said.
Boss, meanwhile, said the Chris Waller-trained Index Linked might be a Mornington Cup prospect after his 1-3/4-length win in the Piping Lane Handicap (2000m) but added that the provincial track with its short straight may not suit.
Waller's Melbourne representative Justine Hales said there were a number of races on the radar for the import but said it would be up to Waller.
"I'm not sure what he will do with him," said Hales.
"We'll have to see how he pulls up.
"He's had a long campaign so we'll see how his feed bin goes."
