Peter Moody has black-type ambitions for stablemates Spirit Of Heaven and Miralago who kick off their campaigns in the same race at Mornington.
The three-year-olds resume in Monday's benchmark 70 Handicap (1225m) for fillies and mares with the plan to progress to either the Vanity Stakes or Angus Armanasco Stakes next month over 1400m.
Spirit Of Heaven is a three-quarter sister to 2011 Group One Australasian Oaks winner Lights Of Heaven who also won a Brisbane Cup and was placed in the 2012 Caulfield Cup during her 25 start career.
Spirit Of Heaven won over 1000m on a heavy track at Sandown on debut in June before finishing a luckless fifth in the Quezette Stakes first-up from a let-up in August.
The filly's only other start was a third to Marianne over 1400m at Caulfield on August 31.
Miralago has also raced three times, winning on debut at Geelong in August and rounding out her first campaign with a fifth in the same race as Spirit Of Heaven behind Marianne at Caulfield.
"They are both either heading to the 1400 metre Vanity at Flemington or the Armanasco later next month at Caulfield," Moody's racing manager Jeff O'Connor said.
"We think they are 1400 metre-plus fillies. They have both got that in their pedigrees.
"So Monday is just a nice kick-off (over) 1200 metres before going to 1400 metres."
While O'Connor believes the distance could be too short, he noted they had quality on their side.
"They both did similar last preparation on the back of winter," O'Connor said.
"They showed they want at least 1400 metres, but whilst fresh we won't be going there thinking they can't win. It just depends if they find one sharper on the day."
The Group Three Vanity Stakes (1400m) for fillies is on February 15 while the Group Two Angus Armanasco (1400m) is a week later.
The eight-race Mornington program has metropolitan status.
