Qld Racing inquiry report ready soon

Tuesday 28 January 2014, 2:14pm

The much anticipated report of the Queensland Racing Commission of Inquiry will go to the state government late next week.

A spokesperson for the QRCI confirmed the report would be ready for delivery to the government on February 7.

Racing Minister Steve Dickson will then release the report and findings to the public.

"We expect the report on February 7 and then it will either be released that day or the following week," a spokesperson for Dickson said.

Former Court of Appeal judge Justice Margaret White was commissioned by the Queensland government to head the QRCI in May and began taking submissions in July.

The public hearings ended in October with more than 100 submissions received and evidence taken from about 25 witnesses.

In late October the QRCI sent letters to various individuals, notifying them of potential adverse findings against them and gave them the opportunity to respond with further submissions.

Justice White has several options in her report including sending matters to the Director of Public Prosecutions and ASIC for possible charges.

She can also make recommendations on how certain matters should be addressed in the future.

The QRCI had seven terms of reference which looked at how the previous Racing Queensland board of directors handled the processing of contracts, various procurement processes and also the integrity of the board.

It also looked at the dealings of Product Co, an arm of Queensland's racing industry which handles race-field fee collection, and TattsBet, the major gambling body in the state.

A further matter was redundancy pay-outs to four former Racing Queensland employees.
