Group One winning jockey Larry Cassidy will have a hernia operation at the end of the week after standing down from riding at Eagle Farm on Wednesday.
The veteran was in pain and clutching his right side after riding Dee Minishing to third in the Sky International Handicap (1200m).
Cassidy said he was hopeful the injury would only keep him out of the saddle for three weeks.
"I am having a hernia operation on Friday. That will be my last ride until after it," he said.
"I was okay to ride today but it seems to have popped bit more."
Stewards agreed to stand Cassidy down from his remaining two rides.
