Big week continues for Ron Quinton

Wednesday 29 January 2014, 6:09pm

Ron Quinton's remarkable week got even better at Warwick Farm on Wednesday when Intimate Moment gave him his second city winner in four days.

The champion jockey turned trainer was in the winner's circle at Randwick on Saturday with the evergreen Monton who made it back-to-back victories.

A day later Quinton received an Australia Day honour when he was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for services to the racing industry.

He was back to business on Tuesday at Goulburn when Monton's half sister Vienna Lady scored her first win in three starts before Intimate Moment showed a dashing turn of foot to take out the Congrats @ Vinery Handicap (1600m) at Warwick Farm.

"It's been a wonderful time," Quinton said.

Intimate Moment had won one of her 11 starts prior to Wednesday but Quinton has long thought the four-year-old would mature into a handy mare.

"I've asked the owners to be patient and keep the faith," Quinton said.

"She has been a bit frustrating but it is paying off now.

"I had been dying to get her to a mile. She is a four-year-old but she's still maturing.

"One day she could measure up to Listed company."

Ridden by Quinton's stable apprentice Sam Clipperton, Intimate Moment scored by 2-3/4 lengths from favourite Fantastic Ballad with another two lengths to third placegetter Roman Eagle.
