Racing will return to Sandown in less than three weeks with the renovated track given the tick of approval after barrier trials on Friday.
Sandown was closed in August so the entire course proper surface could be replaced.
The track will host its first meeting back on February 19.
Racing Victoria's chief steward Terry Bailey watched the barrier trials on Friday and gave the green light for racing to return as planned.
"The track played extremely well and all the feedback from the jockeys that participated in today's trials was positive so we were happy to give it the tick of approval," Bailey said.
There were five trials conducted with a total of 27 horses going around including classy gallopers Smokin' Joey and Speediness who ran first and second in their heat.
Sandown is heavily relied on in Melbourne, especially during the winter months.
