Kah gets Melbourne winner on Sistine Demon

Top Adelaide apprentice Jamie Kah has made her mark in Melbourne with a breakthrough winner on in-form Sistine Demon at Caulfield.

Kah made a big impression in her first full season of riding in Adelaide last season, winning the senior jockeys' premiership along with the apprentices' title.

The 18-year-old started a loan stint with Caulfield trainer Mick Price last month and her victory on the Andrew Noblet-trained Sistine Demon in Saturday's Thomas North Handicap (1400m) was her first Melbourne metropolitan winner since the move.

The apprentice had previously ridden a winner at a Moonee Valley night meeting early last year.

Kah is set to spend three weeks riding in Singapore later this month and hopes to return for another Melbourne loan stint after that with a view to a permanent move.

"It's a big relief," Kah said after Sistine Demon's dominant win.

"The horse travelled well the whole way and gave me a great feel. It was never in doubt."

Sistine Demon ($3.60) has been in a rich vein of form this summer and returned from a let-up to post his fifth-straight win.

The four-year-old bounced to the front and controlled the race before sprinting clear in the straight to defeat favourite Our Hand Of Faith ($2.80) by three lengths with three-quarters of a length to Elwick Jack ($9) third.

Noblet said Sistine Demon deserved his chance in the $260,000 Listed Kilmore Cup (1600m) on February 23.

"He keeps getting better with every run," Noblet said.
