Changeintheweather (USA) commenced his appearance on the First Season Sire list, with his first 2 year old winner today.
Cyclone Kan led all the way to a resounding victory in the Magic Millions QTIS Sale 17-18 QTIS Two-years-Old Maiden Handicap (1000) at Townsville, finishing the last 600m in 0.34.69 on the Dead 5 rated track.
The 2 year old brown gelding from Aleysa Kan jumped fast from the barrier and drew away to win easily by 3.5 lengths. Trained by Lyle Wright at Mackay, he impressed connections early on, winning a jump out against experienced horses by 30 lengths, and his greenness in the straight suggests he is just learning how to race.
Cyclone Kan is only the third runner for the immaculately bred 2 year old Group 1 winner, Changeintheweather, who was imported from the USA to Australia in 2010 and covered a book of 82 mares in his first Australian stud season at Merlo Downs Stud in Rockhampton.
Before moving to the Southern Hemisphere, the son of champion sire of sires, Gone West, earned leading first season sire in the Mid-Atlantic, USA with 11 runners, including 1 Stakes winner from 22 runners.
If his Australian progeny model his USA runners, they will be fast, tough contenders from the 1000m sprints to the middle distances, delivering their owners multiple wins along the way.
Changeintheweather now stands in the Brisbane Valley at Merlo Downs, Minden at a fee of $5,500. Check out Changeintheweather on Bloodstock.com.au Stallions by Clicking Here
