The resurrection of Appearance has continued with the mare again stamping her authority over Sydney's weight-for-age performers in the Apollo Stakes.
The triple Group One winner had a miserable spring with trainer Guy Walter and owners Darley pulling the pin after two starts.
That is a decision Walter says has been the making of Appearance who won the Group Two Expressway Stakes (1200m) on February 8 and came back to Randwick for Saturday's Group Two Apollo (1400m).
"I thought if she was vulnerable it would be today," Walter said.
"But she is just getting better and better.
"She had a good long spell after the spring when she wasn't right and is just flying now.
"She is a great mare and her record of eight wins from 18 starts says that.
"It's on to the Chipping Norton."
The Group One Chipping Norton (1600m) is in two weeks at Warwick Farm, Appearance's home track.
After a late rally by punters, Appearance started the $2.60 favourite over Boban ($2.80) in the Apollo and wound up from near last on the turn to beat Speediness ($7.50) by 1-1/2 lengths with Moriarty ($31) another short neck third just ahead of his stablemate Boban.
Now a five-year-old, the lightly raced Appearance has a history of tying up, a condition that affects the muscular structure and causes pain and stiffness.
Walter said the long spell she had and maturity had helped the mare stay problem-free this time around.
"It's not a condition you can really treat so it's just a case of having a decent spell in the warmer weather," he said.
Blake Shinn, who won the Coolmore Classic on Appearance last autumn, has been aboard for both starts this campaign.
"It was a messy race and I got flushed out four-wide but I knew I was on the best horse in the race," Shinn said.
"She is just going so well. It's all credit to Guy."
Shinn has established himself as the No.1 rider for the Walter stable but may have to give way to Kerrin McEvoy later in the autumn when Darley's stable jockey returns from injury and Melbourne commitments.
Among Appearances targets are the Doncaster Mile and a defence of the Queen Of The Turf Stakes.
