While Melbourne has embraced the Relaxed Racing theme in recent weeks, it seems things have been a little too casual in the sunshine state.
Brisbane Race Club chairman Neville Bell returned from a trip to Africa on Saturday in time to quell an uprising among members.
During January and February the main public facilities have been closed at both Doomben and Eagle Farm.
Members of the public have been allowed to use the majority of the members area.
In recent weeks there have been allegations of drunken behaviour by people wearing shorts and tee-shirts in the members' enclosure.
At Eagle Farm last week there was even a male strip tease act on the members' lawn.
Bell imposed strict conditions at Saturday's Eagle Farm meeting to ensure the members areas were kept to members only.
"The bottom line is we have been losing $50,000 a month during previous summer periods," Bell said.
"This time we implemented new measures and actually have made a $10,000 a month profit.
"But I admit we got some aspects wrong and I can see why members who pay $400 a year have been upset."
He said the BRC committee would look further at the situation and come up with a refined scheme to benefit everyone during summer.
One spin-off was that trainers, who for decades have been allowed to drink in the members bar, were refused entry on Saturday.
But Bell said he also had a plan to overcome that problem.
