Racing Queensland stewards have opened an inquiry into Blue Diamond-winning jockey Damian Browne's ride on Kingtantes at Eagle Farm on Wednesday.
Kingtantes finished third, beaten 6-3/4 lengths behind Primal Flight in the Quest Breakfast Creek Maiden (1200m).
Stewards quizzed Browne about his tactics on Kingtantes, and in particular his actions between the 400m and the 200m.
Browne, who won the Blue Diamond Stakes on Earthquake last Saturday, said he had ridden Kingtantes to instructions to get cover back in the field.
Chief steward Allan Reardon adjourned the inquiry to take evidence from trainer Robert Heathcote who was interstate on Wednesday.
The inquiry is likely to resume early next week.
Trainer Kelso Wood will learn on Thursday how long his smart two-year-old She's Miss Devine will be away from the racetrack.
She's Miss Devine would have been an odds-on favourite at Eagle Farm on Saturday but Wood did not accept with her.
The filly had won her only start for a seven-length win at Eagle Farm on February 12 when she ran the fastest 1000m by a juvenile this season.
"We worked her on Tuesday and afterwards she had swelling in a foreleg," Wood said.
"We have been icing it and we will have scans on Thursday morning."
Wood said he feared She's Miss Devine would be out for at least two months.
"If that is the case there goes the winter carnival," Wood said.
Meanwhile, trainer Stuart Kendrick will set his mare Tambo's Jewel for Saturday races after she made it four wins from four second-up runs in the Hidden Dragon Handicap (1200m).
