The Rosehill Guineas is shaping as a pivotal race in the autumn campaign of Savvy Nature who resumes in Saturday's Hobartville Stakes.
The three-year-old is entered for the Doncaster Mile, Australian Derby and Queen Elizabeth Stakes and all options are open.
"We will get to the Rosehill Guineas then see how it falls," trainer John O'Shea said.
Winner of The Vase at Moonee Valley during the Melbourne spring carnival, Savvy Nature missed a place for the first time in his eight-start career in the Victoria Derby.
He returns over 1400 metres in the Group Two Hobartville at Rosehill after two barrier trials and a lengthy build-up on the training track.
O'Shea says the drawn-out preparation has been necessary to keep Savvy Nature's bulk in check, rather than providing an extra fitness foundation.
"He didn't grow a great deal but I didn't want him to, he's 550 kilos," O'Shea said.
"He has been in work a long time (because) I can't afford to have him out too long.
"If he ran up to his run first-up last time in I'd be happy."
Savvy Nature resumed with a third behind Stamina and Bull Point over 1400m last campaign.
O'Shea will saddle up five other runners at Rosehill and made special mention of Diamond Oasis, a last-start fifth in the Rubiton Stakes who tackles a benchmark 80 race on Saturday.
"Diamond Oasis has Lankan Rupee form which should be more than acceptable for a race like this."
