A filly with barrier trial bragging rights over Blue Diamond winner Earthquake has been a Golden Slipper shortener as she prepares for her Flemington debut.
The Mick Price-trained More Radiant firmed from $51 to $26 on Thursday for the Golden Slipper and she also been backed to win Saturday's Listed Sports 1000 at Flemington.
More Radiant ran in a Cranbourne barrier trial a month ago, going to the line with Earthquake before claiming a slender win.
Price labelled More Radiant a Group filly in the making after the trial.
"It has also been $7 into $3.30 for the race on Saturday," TAB's Glenn Munsie said.
"Mick Price was very bullish about it on the radio."
More Radiant's Flemington opposition includes the equal $3.30 favourite Eloping who finished second to Earthquake in the Blue Diamond fillies Prelude.
Eloping's connections opted to bypass the Blue Diamond.
"I don't think she was good enough," co-trainer Peter Morgan said.
"As it panned out, who knows, she might have run second. But at the time I didn't think she could run a place."
The trainer, however, rates the filly hard to beat in Listed grade on Saturday.
"There's a couple of unknowns that have trialled alright, but you don't take much notice of trials," Morgan said.
"Unless there's something there that we don't know about, I'd imagine she should be really competitive."
Morgan gave Eloping an easy trial at Cranbourne on Monday but said racing down the straight for the first time on Saturday was a query.
