Nick Olive has high hopes for Canberra galloper Nat King Cu and is keen to see how he responds when tested in city company for the first time on Saturday.

Nat King Cu will head to Sydney for the Meadowlea Mile (1600m) at Warwick Farm on the back of four straight wins on his home track in the nation's capital.

"I'm looking forward to seeing him in Sydney. I've got a pretty high opinion of this horse," Olive said.

"I know he didn't win by an impressive margin last start but he's just that sort of horse.

"He's so laid back and only does what he has to do, which is why I'm looking forward to seeing what he does on Saturday."

Nat King Cu finished seventh on debut at Canberra in March before being sent for a spell.

The son of King Cugat returned with a narrow win in a maiden in September then progressed to winning two more races comfortably under big weights.

He made it four wins in a row with a neck victory in a 1400m benchmark 65 on October 26.

Olive said the Warwick Farm race would provide a guide on future plans for the gelding.

"I think he's still learning what it's all about and I think next time in he'll be a nice horse," Olive said.

"I'm looking forward to seeing what he's got there when he's put under pressure because I don't think he's got to the bottom of the tank yet.

"If he comes out and wins on Saturday, I'll have to start looking at where to go with him."

The Meadowlea Mile has nine runners including Too Hi Tek who caused a boilover at Rosehill last Saturday when winning at $101.

The Peter Moody-trained Soros has been installed favourite.

While Olive is looking forward to Nat King Cu heading to Sydney for the first time, the trainer's attention will first be on the speedy Zaratone who runs in a Listed 1000m race at Flemington on Thursday.
