Alpha Miss has given her syndicate of owners a Golden Slipper conundrum after winning at Warwick Farm.

The filly is not nominated for the $3.5 million race and connections will have to pay a $150,000 late entry fee to run.

Trainer Gary Nickson said no decision would be made until after her next start in the Group Two Magic Night Stakes at Rosehill on March 29, a week before the Golden Slipper.

"They might pay the late fee. Personally, I'd have a look at it," Nickson said.

The $500,000 Royal Randwick Stakes, a Group Three race for two-year-old fillies on April 19, is an alternative race on Alpha Miss' autumn program.

Winner of the Gimcrack Stakes in the spring, Alpha Miss ($12) took her record to three victories from four starts in the Lonhro Plate on Saturday, a race boasting Slipper hopefuls Memorial, Brazen Beau and Wandjina.

Ridden off the speed from an inside draw, the $6000 weanling-buy rounded up the leaders and held off the late-charging Memorial ($4) by a neck with Aerobar ($71) third.

Her victory vindicated Nickson's decision not to run in Sunday's Black Opal Stakes at Canberra because of a wide draw as well as confirming his confidence she could bounce back from a first-up fourth in the Widden Stakes.

"I thought with the Widden run under her belt she'd be hard to beat today," he said.

Winning jockey Jason Collett said he thought he had set Alpha Miss too much of a task from a wide barrier in the Widden.

"With the benefit of a good gate today I was able to take it easy and get in behind them," Collett said.

"She's a little beauty. She tries her guts out."

Favourite Brazen Beau ranged up in the straight but couldn't sustain the effort, finishing fifth, while Wandjina held fourth after leading.
