Streama scratched from Emirates Stakes

Friday 9 November 2012, 11:48am

Dual Group One winner Streama has been scratched from Saturday's Emirates Stakes at Flemington.

The Guy Walter-trained mare, withdrawn on veterinary advice, was to have been ridden by leading Sydney jockey Hugh Bowman.

Bowman will now switch to the Gwenda Markwell-trained Rolling Pin.

The scratching paves the way for first emergency Free Wheeling to gain a start in the $1 million race.

Jockey Christian Reith claimed his first Group One win aboard Nechita at Flemington last Saturday and had been hopeful Free Wheeling would get a start in the Emirates.

Free Wheeling is one of two Peter Snowden-trained runners along with Epsom Handicap runner-up Ambidexter.

"He'll be at the top of his game on Saturday if he gets a run," Reith said after riding a treble at Hawkesbury on Thursday.
